CyberInt’s Daniela Perlmutter on hackers ‘living off the land’

Daniela Perlmutter talks with CyberScoop Editor-in-Chief Greg Otto about a hacker group that has been using tools it finds freely on the internet, utilizing them in in a practice known as “living off the land.”

“It’s the fact that they’re using the same tried and tested TTPs, but the prevalence of them are available in an order of magnitude that wasn’t before,” she told CyberScoop at the 2020 RSA Conference. “There’s like an underground economy to actually trade with those TTPs, which are really software tools and then the availability enables so many groups to just take advantage of those TTPs.”
