A business case for better cybersecurity

Jim Shook, director of cybersecurity and compliance practice for Dell Technologies says cybersecurity is a business issue, not just an IT issue. It’s important to understand the critical business drivers, how to enable people working remotely from home, and how to properly protect assets as cyber attacks are on the rise, he says.

Part of that is finding the right skills, Shook says, and closing those talent gaps. People should have greater access to cybersecurity training and related programs, he says. There needs to be a greater understanding of risk at the business level, he says, as well as getting legal, compliance or risk departments a little more involved in IT.

Shook was filmed in October 2020 for the virtual CyberTalks event produced by Scoop News Group.
